| New Bumper | |
| I wanted to create a new front bumper for the Rover that would serve as a mount for the Koenig King, provide recovery points, and be visually interesting. What I came up with is based upon the ARB bumper, where the bumper tapers down to a smaller size at it's ends. The final bumper will have four different receiver hitches built into it. Two out the front and one out each side. The front receivers will extend back into the frame rails and serve as the main attaching points. | |
| This is the first phase of construction. Two 12" long sections of 2.5x2.5x3/16 square tubing have been cut. Each has three 9/16" holes drilled in them. Two are 1" back from each end of the tube and the third is 2" in from the inner hole. These two inner holes line up with holes through the frame rails. The outer hole is for the hitch. These tubes extend into the frame a total of 5" and will stick out the front of the finished bumper 2". The main body for the bumper is made from a 65" long piece of 3x5x3/16 tubing. The outer 17" of each end of this piece have been cut to create a 3" taper. 2.5" square holes have been placed 25" apart and centered in the 5" face of the tube. The 2.5x2.5's are bolted in place on the frame, and then the 3x5 is slid over them. The 3x5 is then tack-welded to the 2.5's. | ![]() ![]() |
