We only spent a few hours at the airfield (APOD) in Kuwait before loading onto buses and heading for our temporary home in the desert. We arrived at Camp Virginia around 2300 on the 20th. Sat in a parking lot for an hour while they decided where to place us. We then drove around the camp to our home. Two lovely GP Medium tents. Complete with ac/heat and electricity. We got kind of lucky, our tent was wired with 110v. Found out that most in the camp are on 220v.

Camp Virginia is row after row after row of tents. Luckily the folks across the way have this large flag up. Makes it easier for us to find our way home.

A big, flat, hot, dry, expanse of nothingness that stretches as far as you can see.

Luckily the facilities are only a few paces away.

Our first sand storm in CampVA. That is the 10am sun, not the moon in the sky.
There are rows of tents just a hundred yards behind those trucks that couldnt be seen.

Welcome to Ground Hogs Day

Another unit recognition sign in the desert

Local barber and laundry services.

Relaxing in the tent.

We spent hours cleaning dust and sand out of weapons.

But we spent even more time waiting in line.

We got a little time on the range to work on some quick fire drills.

And we drank a LOT of water.
