Right after morning chow we moved all of our gear to the main helo pad next to the palace. We took off and flew down to the Mosul airport to pick up the rest of the folks that were going to the Border with us. I got a couple good photos as we flew over Mosul. There was a protest going on at the time, thousands of people out on the streets. Just picture some of the scenes from Blackhawk Down and you know what our view was like out the door. After getting the rest of the party we turned north to Habur. It was a 35 minute flight. We stayed away from population centers, but it was still fast and low. Had my GPS tracking our progress, we pretty much stayed 145mph at 300 feet. We passed over a couple of bombed out fortifications, trench lines, and fighting positions. The flight ended way too soon. We landed within the customs compound.
