Four of us are going on a leaders recon to link up with the unit we are replacing. We left Virginia on Monday the 23rd and bummed a ride from some guys in an SUV back to the APOD south of K City. We hopped up here on a C-130. Landing was awsome. They treat every landing likes its combat, lots of twists and turns. A buddy of MAJ Jansens is running the MTC here so he hooked us up with a tent and has been showing us around. First night here we could here the mortars landing in the distance. The airbase gets hit just about every night.

The tents at BIAP have real walls and carpets in them.

There are even mattresses on the cots. Have to be carefull though, they are about a foot wider then the cot and will flip over if you are not careful.

A captured AA Gun sits outside the Web Cafe.

This is an Army camp a couple miles down the road from Sather. Conditions are not up to the same standards as on the Air Force compound.
